Michael Hancock was controversial Liberal Democrat MP for Portsmouth South before losing his seat at the 2015 election.
Portsmouths leading City Councillors have written to the Home Secretary, Theresa May to ask that a fresh investigation is made of allegations against Hancock .
The remarkable letter, which can be seen in full on this link , is signed by leaders of Liberal Democrats, Labour, UKIP and Deputy leader of Conservatives, with the Conservative leader writing her own letter to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The Councillors’ letter states “We are most concerned that Hampshire Constabulary may have failed to comply with the policy and procedures set out in the Safeguarding Adults Policy (2010), to which both the council and Hampshire Constabulary are signatories. It would appear that a timely and thorough investigation has not been carried out.”
