”Environment minister Rory Stewart said only yesterday that a coffee tax could be introduced to deal with the huge problem of millions of takeaway cups that cannot be recycled.
He made the remarks after it was revealed that 399 cups out of ever 400, which is more than 2.5billion a year, are simply dumped.
However Mr Stewart’s department, The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), released a statement today saying there were no plans for such a tax.”
DER Comment: ”When are these people going to realise that you don’t solve problems by just introducing new taxes ?
It’s just money grabbing. They don’t give a stuff about the cups.”
DER Comment: ”Tories are not the Government of taxation so they said.”
